Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 27, 2026
ScreenshotX is made by Codeixlab ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the ScreenshotX desktop app, this website and ScreenshotX Cloud collect, what we do with it, and the choices you have. Screenshots and recordings you make stay on your Mac unless you choose to upload them.
1. Information we collect
Account information. Your name, email address and a hashed password. If you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name, email address and a provider identifier. You may also upload an avatar.
Content you upload. When you share to ScreenshotX Cloud we store the files you upload (screenshots, recordings, GIFs), their names, sizes, dimensions, durations, thumbnails, tags, privacy and expiry settings, and the comments left on them. Transcripts are stored if you request them.
Billing information. Purchases are processed by Stripe. We receive your name, email, billing address, tax details, the plan, amounts and payment status. We never see or store your full card number.
Device information. To enforce one device per license we store a random device identifier and a device name when you sign in to the app, plus when the sign-in was last used.
Viewing information. When someone opens a shared link we count them as a distinct viewer using a one-way hash of their IP address and browser, or their user ID if they are signed in. We do not store the raw IP address for this purpose. Server logs may briefly contain IP addresses for security and abuse prevention.
Anonymous usage statistics (optional). If you switch on "Share usage statistics" the app sends a random install ID, an event name (such as app launched or capture taken), the app version and your operating system. No account, team, file content or IP address is stored with these events. You can turn this off at any time in Settings.
Cookies. We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect forms against forgery. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
2. How we use information
- To provide the app and ScreenshotX Cloud: authenticate you, store and serve your files, and show share pages.
- To process payments, issue receipts and manage your license or subscription.
- To send service emails: confirmations, password resets, receipts and the notifications you enable (such as comments and views).
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and enforce device limits.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the app is used so we can improve it, if you opted in.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use your files to train AI models.
3. Your files and sharing
Files are private to your account and team by default settings you control. Anyone with a link set to "anyone" can open it; links can be protected with a password, restricted to your team, made private, or set to expire. Team members can see and manage the team's files according to their role. Optional comments on a shared file are visible to people who can view it.
4. Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run ScreenshotX, under their own privacy commitments:
- Wasabi for object storage of uploaded files.
- Stripe for payments, invoices and tax.
- Google and Apple if you choose to sign in with them.
- Our email delivery and hosting providers.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger or sale of the business, in which case we will tell you.
5. Retention and deletion
We keep your account and files until you delete them or your account. Deleting a file removes it from storage; expired links stop working and expired files are removed. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, your files and the files of teams you own, and cancels any active subscription. Billing records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law require. Backups are overwritten on a regular schedule.
6. Security
Passwords are stored hashed, API tokens are stored only as digests, files are transferred over HTTPS and read through short-lived signed links. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
7. Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your profile, notifications and sharing defaults in your dashboard, download or delete your files, remove your connected device, and delete your account. Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK or California) you may also have the right to access, correct, port or erase your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. To exercise these rights, email us at the address below.
8. Children
ScreenshotX is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
Our providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. We will change the date above and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the app before they take effect.
